For Murray’s a jolly good fellow, and so say all of them

TYNEMOUTH Rotary Club member Murray Shand has been given a Paul Harris fellowship, Rotary International’s highest award.

Mr Shand, a former club president set to resume that role next year, was presented with his award by the movement’s assistant district governor, Alan Murray.

During his last presidency, ending in 2009, Mr Shand, when asked to raise £1,500 over four years for the Rotary Polio Plus campaign, raised it all in one go.

Mr Shand also dressed up as King Kong to zipwire across Sunderland’s Stadium of Light with 15 other club members, raising £3,000.
