A taste of France was brought to a Whitley Bay school ahead of the summer holidays.
Youngsters at the Star of the Sea Primary School found their ‘French Day’ was ‘tres bon’ as they got on their bikes to help celebrate all the best of France.
All the pupils dressed up in red, white and blue for the event.
And those in Years 5 and 6, along with their parents, were offered a French breakfast if they rode their bikes to school.
Years 3 and 4 were given a talk on the Tour de France by Lucy Fenwick, who works for Sustrans, and offered croissants and pain au chocolate.
Children in reception, Years 1 and 2 were able to ‘bling their bikes’ on a French theme and were presented with badges and prizes for the most inventive make over.
A school spokesperson said: “Overall it was a great success and the children all agreed it was a day with a difference.”
