STAFF and pupils took a leap of faith to raise money for charity.
The groups from TyneMet College and Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College abseiled 200ft down the Vermont Hotel in Newcastle to raise money for the ‘Teenage Cancer Trust’, their chosen charity.
College principal Jon Vincent and chair of governors Bill Midgley were the first to step over the ledge, followed by staff and 30 pupils – and a 75-year-old grandfather of one of the pupils.
They are aiming to break their £2,000 target.
Mr Vincent said: “Teachers and students worked together to complete the abseil, which for some was the scariest feat they had ever had to do.”
