WE would like to take this opportunity to thank the thousands of visitors from North Shields and from out of town who attended the ‘Gannin Shoppin’ in Shields’ history exhibition held at the Beacon centre over the past week for their time, constructive comments, suggestions and memories.

The response to the exhibition has exceeded all of our expectations and we now have a huge amount of information and ideas to work with in the future as the town goes through an important period of development.

Over the coming weeks we will be taking all of this information and using it to help with the town centre plans for the future.

It is impossible to turn back the hands of time and while the exhibition brought back a mixture of ‘laughter and tears’ for visitors, what does not change is the spirit of the town and its residents, and we look forward to working with both residents and visitors to the town in the future.
