A repairs and maintenance provider has been recognised for its commitment to gas safety for tenants.
Kier North Tyneside, a joint venture between Kier Services and North Tyneside Council, has been shortlisted in the Most Innovative Housing Contractor category in the 2015 Housing Innovation Awards.
The gas team, comprising 29 fully qualified employees, ensure all gas appliances in residential council properties are serviced annually.
The team regularly undertakes training in Kier’s separate gas training facility in Killingworth to ensure their skills and knowledge are up-to-date.
Kier regional director, Mike Furze, said: “We are extremely honoured to be short-listed for an award at this prestigious industry event.
“Health and safety is a key priority for both our employees and customers, and we are delighted our gas safety procedure has been recognised.”
Coun John Harrison, cabinet member for housing and environment, said: “We’re delighted that the team has been short-listed for this award, which demonstrates the effectiveness of our partnership working and the achievements of our staff.
“The safety of tenants is always of paramount importance to us; we are committed to the highest safety standards in all our properties and are proud our joined up approach is being recognised nationally.”
