A BALL to raise money for a charity for the disabled has raised £40,000.

The Percy Hedley Foundation’s annual Mistletoe Ball at the Gateshead Hilton hotel is always a big money-spinner for the Forest Hall-based charity, and this year’s event kept up that record.

Director of fundraising Des Bustard, said: “Every year, we strive to make the Mistletoe Ball experience bigger and better, and, despite the current economic circumstances, we raised an amazing amount. This is down to the generosity of our sponsors and guests.

“It goes without saying that every penny we raised at the event will be spent directly on our services and will make a huge difference in improving the lives of many disabled children, young people and adults throughout the north east and beyond.”
