Great support for volunteer work

My son, Oliver Croskery, 10, and I volunteered on The Book Bus, Zambia, during the summer by reading to kids in rural villages who do not have access to an education and doing arts and crafts with them to interpret the stories.

These children were amazing and clearly get so much out of what the volunteeers provide for them.

We have had so much support in raising money for this trip and would like to thank my colleagues for buying my cakes on ‘Cake Friday’ for the last four years; The Parks Judo Club and Percy Park Rugby Club for allowing us to do a tuck shop; Marine Park First School for a non-uniform day; Jen Stevens and The Hiccups for playing at our ‘Charity Bash’ (the profits from which were split between St Oswald’s Hospice and The Book Bus); and lastly, thanks to Tyne North Training, Wallsend, and Barclays Bank who both gave sizeable donations towards the charity.
