Owners of a Whitley Bay bed and breakfast are smiling after making it to the final of a national competition.

Park Lodge B&B, in Park Avenue, was a finalist in the AA Friendliest Bed and Breakfast Award 2016 sponsored by eviivo.

Liz Carty and Jill Docherty were among 23 finalists nominated by AA Inspectors, attending the ceremony at the London Landmark Hotel.

The mother and daughter team have been welcoming guests to Park Lodge for more than 30 years, priding themselves on good quality service, a friendly welcome and an atmosphere where our guests can relax and enjoy their stay.

Liz said: “I am delighted and thrilled to have been nominated for this prestigious award. Our attention to detail and making sure our guests have a wonderfully friendly stay has always been our main goal.”

Peter Laigaard Jensen, Head of AA Hotel & Hospitality Services, said: “It is an absolute pleasure to celebrate and recognise all of our 2016 AA Bed & Breakfast award winners here in London.

“To run a bed and breakfast is a very personal thing and it takes a lot of dedication as well as passion and with such great establishments from all over the United Kingdom, it only confirms the strength and depth that the B&B market has to offer.

“Each of these B&Bs offer great hospitality and are passionate about giving their guests the best possible experience during their stay.”
