A WALLSEND-based website promoting non league football has picked up an award just a year after it was launched.
Northern League Football Premiership Passion is run by News Guardian reporter Hayley Revell in her spare time, and the website has been named a winner in the Shell LiveWIRE Grand Ideas Award at the third time of asking.
The website, which provides video highlights of football matches in the Northern League, went live on August 4, 2011 and this week picked up £1,000 to go towards running the site.
Hayley has now been short-listed for an Entrepreneur of the Year award, which will be held in November.
Hayley, 29, said: “I am so pleased to have won the award, and very proud.
“It was frustrating on previous occasions getting the highest public vote but not winning.
“But it proved third time lucky for me, I took on board feedback from the judges and adjusted my application, and it all worked out well.”
Footage on the site included Whitley Bay’s dramatic exit from the FA Carlsberg Vase last season against local rivals West Auckland.
Hayley added: “I have had so much positive feedback about the website.
“Thank you very much to everyone who has not only supported the website, but who took the time to vote for me. It really is appreciated.”
