A nursery has won an award for encouraging its staff to look after themselves.
The Just Learning nursery at the Cobalt Business Park in North Shields has won an NHS North East Better Health at Work award.
The awards are handed out in recognition of efforts by bosses to improve the health of their employees.
Firms taking part can benefit from access to a range of health support services and activities.
Employees are given the opportunity to increase their knowledge of health issues.
The Just Learning nursery has been given a bronze level award and will now work towards achieving silver level.
Nursery manager Victoria Solomon said: “Our biggest asset is our fantastic staff, and it is important that we look after them.
“This programme is designed to improve health and awareness in the workplace, hopefully making significant improvements in sickness levels and the general wellbeing of employees.
“We have undoubtedly seen benefits with staff embracing the initiatives we have introduced.
“We would encourage other organisations to take part. Just a few simple steps towards improving the health of employees could result in benefits to business, the economy of the region and the quality of life of those who live in the north east.”
