A campaign raising awareness and money for a breast cancer charity is returning to Whitley Bay for the fifth time.
The ‘Paint the Town Pink’ sees a host of events and activities take place around North Tyneside to raise money for Breast Cancer Campaign.
Waves Leisure Pool, in Whitley Bay, saw its water turn pink to help launch the month-long initiative throughout October, which is the brainchild of Shirley Hallam, Soroptimist International Tynemouth Whitley Bay and District president.
She said: “I have been overwhelmed with the generosity from the staff and visitors to the pool over the years.
“I felt that everyone who came along were amazed at the Pink Cafe, excited by the anticipation of the pink pool and left with smiles on their faces; and all for a good cause.”
Whitley Bay Football Club have said they will support the campaign again by wearing pink strips in their home game against West Auckland on November 2.
