YOUNG air cadets made sure they hit the right note after entertaining thousands of people in the space of a few hours.

The cadets from 2344 (Longbenton) Squadron were part of the Remembrance Service held in Benton on November 11 before their band played in front of 51,833 spectators at St James’ Park ahead of Newcastle United’s clash with West Ham United.

They performed You Raised Me Up, These Magnificent Men, The Great Escape and Glory to the Heroes before ending with match day favourites Local Hero, Blaydon Races and the theme tune to Match of the Day.

Squadron Commanding Officer Flight Lieutenant Gary Richardson said: “I must thank St James’ Park and the football supporters for their tremendous respect shown.”
