Housing services in North Tyneside could soon be replicated in America.

Rachel Yoder, from Project Home in Philadelphia, travelled to the region to view the work of youth homelessness charity Depaul UK North East to help develop services in the States.

She was shown projects in Whitley Bay, Heaton and South Shields, including the emergency accommodation service, supported housing schemes and outreach services, as well as family mediation work, training and wellbeing projects, and mentoring schemes.

Rachel said: “I was overwhelmed by the breadth of services offered by Depaul UK and its obvious passion for supporting young people in need of a home.”

The charity has helped some 63,000 homeless youngsters nationwide since 1989.
