A care worker is celebrating after picking up an industry award in recognition of her work.

Paula Oumaouche, of Whitley Bay, was one of the winners at the Great British Care awards.

She won the ‘Dignity in Care award’ and will now represent the north east region in the national final, due to be held in Birmingham in June.

Paula is a care worker for Bluebird Care North Tyneside and has worked for the company for nearly two years.

Julie McLellan, director of Bluebird Care, said: “Bluebird Care North Tyneside are extremely proud of Paula’s achievement and this award really shows how committed she is to providing good quality care.

“Paula has been with the company nearly two years now and she provides care to people in their own homes.”

The Dignity in Care award is given to someone who helps people to live a dignified life despite their age, disability or hardship.

It is awarded to someone who gives their customers a voice and respects their needs physically and emotionally.
