DOZENS of people have been honoured for completing a series of courses at a local centre.

Parents and volunteers from the Riverside Children’s Centre, in North Shields, were recognised for their work at a special presentation.

The centre’s annual celebration honours and rewards parents who have attended training courses, or taking part in volunteer work over the last year.

The centre opened in 1994 as an early-years training centre and nursery, becoming a children’s centre in 2006.

A number of training courses take place at the centre.
