Staff and residents at a care home are celebrating after their housekeeper was shortlisted for a top award.

Mandy Renney – who has worked at Earsdon Grange care home in Wellfield, Whitley Bay, since 2005 – is a finalist in the National Care Awards.

She has been nominated for the ‘Care Housekeeper’ award because of her approachable and caring nature, dedication to providing the highest standards of cleanliness and home presentation and her willingness to go the extra mile for residents, staff and families.

Alongside her duties as housekeeper, Mandy also acts as the Infection Control link which involves attending infection control forums, delivering training to other members of staff and assisting in audits at the home.

Mandy said: “I was thrilled when I was nominated so to make it through to the finals is absolutely incredible.”

Judges were looking for outstanding housekeepers who had demonstrated their passion and commitment to the role. The winner will be announced on November 28.

Care manager at Earsdon Grange, Nicola Bell, said: “We are delighted that Mandy is shortlisted for the award.”

“She really appreciates the importance of creating a warm, homely atmosphere for residents and families through the presentation of the home and is dedicated to ensuring the home has the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness.”
