Hundreds flock to a parent and toddler fun day at park

Families flocked to a shopping complex for a two-day ‘Parent and Toddler Weekend’.

Children were able to get their hands on the latest must-have toys and accessories during the event last weekend at Silverlink shopping park in Wallsend.

And there was an opportunity to dig deep for a local hero as Ivan Hollingsworth, fresh from his four-day coast-to-coast fundraiser, was there with son Seb to raise money on behalf of CHUF, the Children’s Heart Unit Fund, at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital.

Activities included a special marquee acting as a play zone while parents had a look at the latest must-have products. There was also face painting, a treasure hunt with prizes and retailer giveaways.

Nicola McGowan, customer service team leader at Argos, said: “The parent and toddler event has gone very well. It’s been very busy and the face painting, in particular, has been very popular.”

Amy Hodges, marketing manager for Silverlink shopping park, said: “We’ve had a fantastic response here with so many families coming down to make a day of it.

“Events like this certainly seem to appeal to shoppers and we hope to continue to hold them regularly here at the Silverlink.

“We’re also pleased to be able to use our ‘Parent and Toddler Weekend’ to help Ivan and Seb raise money for CHUF and I’m sure shoppers will be generous for such a worthy charity.”
