Ideas wanted for sculptures to be placed outside library

RESIDENTS are being asked to shape new artwork at one of the borough’s libraries.

North Tyneside Council is looking for suggestions on sculptural features which will be placed at Howdon Library and Family Learning Centre in Churchill Street, Wallsend.

The Big Idea Day – a drop-in session to help develop designs – will take place on Saturday between 11am and 1pm, and 2pm and 4pm.

Bernie Rutter and Denis O’Connor, of Sculpture Works, were chosen from 80 applicants from around the country to create features at the library’s entrance and garden, funded by the Big Lottery Fund.

And people can visit the special workshop to bring forward subjects, words, stories, books, objects and poems they feel are important to the community.

Further sessions take place on Saturday, November 19, and Saturday, December 10, from 10am to 1pm, and 2pm to 4pm, to bring together proposals.
