A new piece of equipment is helping improve access to a swimming pool.

Hadrian Leisure Centre has introduced a specialist pool hoist to assist pool users with a disability.

The new ‘EZ’ hoist will transfer a swimmer smoothly from the changing facilities into the pool, with no need for lifting by a carer.

Hadrian is the location for dedicated disability swimming sessions, running on Saturdays, March 28, May 2 and June 6, from 5pm to 6pm.

These are open to all ages (pool admission policy applies) and participants must attend with a carer (up to two carers per person).

A qualified swimming instructor will also be on hand and Hadrian has specialist changing places facilities, with hoist, providing fully accessible changing.

Cost for the disability swimming sessions is £2 for children and £3.80 for adults.
