Intruders assault man in his home

A man was assaulted in his house by intruders in the early hours of this morning.

At 6.30am on Tuesday, August 27, at a house in Horsham Grove in North Shields, the householder answered a knock at his door and found three masked men who pushed their way into his home and assaulted the 31-year-old male resident causing cuts and bruising to his head, the men then left.

Nothing was stolen during the incident and the injured man was taken to North Tyneside Hospital and released after treatment.

Police were called to the address and are carrying out house to house enquiries.

The offenders are described as all wearing masks; the first man was wearing a grey hoodie, blue trousers and Nike trainers, the second man, wearing tracksuit bottoms, a dark blue hoodie and white Nike trainers, there is no description of the third man.

Police are carrying out enquiries in the area and additional officers are on patrol to reassure the community.
