A brainy student has proved to be top of the class after securing the best possible grade in her SATS.
Year 6 pupil Jennifer Hargreaves headed into the summer holidays celebrating after achieving the highest possible results in her Key Stage 2 SATS in reading, writing, maths and the government’s new grammar, spelling and punctuation test.
The ten-year-old, who attends Western Community Primary School in Wallsend, achieved level 6 results across the board – which represents truly exceptional attainment for her age.
Jennifer, who lives in the Holy Cross area, is the only pupil in North Tyneside to achieve these results. She will be starting at Burnside High School in September.
Western Community Primary headteacher Claire Brown said: “We are so delighted for Jennifer.
“She is an absolute joy to have in school and always works so hard.
“The level 6 tests are hugely demanding and challenging and these results are an appropriate finale for her time with us and a reflection of her amazing ability.
“I know she has an exciting career ahead of her.
“We are so proud of her and of all the children in Year 6 who have achieved so well this year.
“We’ll be very sad to say goodbye to them and we wish them well as they move to high school.”
The school, which is rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, received further good news this week.
It has achieved its highest ever percentage of children working at national expectations with 12 per cent of pupils also attaining the exceptional level 6 in maths.
