Keep the benefits in the borough

As a fierce critic of North Tyneside Council over the years, I am very pleased that the Whitley Bay regeneration plans are now being pushed through.

At last something is going to happen.

Whilst everyone is not going to agree on the rights and wrongs of the proposals, it has to be better than the ‘spend money, produce nothing’ experience that we have had for many years.

I hope that the benefits are passed on through the borough.

For example, the contracts should be awarded where possible to companies within the borough, not architects in Newcastle, or marketing companies in London.

Keep it all in ‘house’, support local business and make sure the end economic benefit is for the borough.
