The Bowmen of Backworth played host to the Bygate Women’s Institute for their ‘have-a-go archery’ afternoon at the Backworth Miners Welfare.

Eight ladies spent the day being taught the basics of archery and then going on to shoot their own competition. This finished with first place going to Annette Madison, 129 points out of a possible 180, with the others following through: Celia Patterson, Janet Graham, Rosie Mason, Eileen Hair, Judy Stoves, Val Perkins and Maureen Judge.

The Bowmen of Backworth take part in country shows, open days, weddings and stag parties. Also beginners courses are run on a regular basis.
