Late night opening aims to put street on the map

TRADERS in Whitley Bay are preparing to stay open late as the town begins its Christmas festivities.

More than 30 independent businesses along Park View will be staying open late on Friday, December 2, in support of the St Nicholas Festival.

The annual festival, which includes a lamp-lit procession, will take place at St Paul’s Church, in Park View, and see the festive lights switched on.

As well as the farmers market in the town centre, traders will be keeping their doors open late for shoppers and offering milled wine and mince pies as a thank you to customers.

And business owners are hoping new shoppers will also come to the town and ‘take a fresh look at the View’ and see what is on offer.

Traders on the street have been keen to show the wide range of shops and goods on offer, setting up the Park View Collective.

As a result, they have designed and produced a high quality Park View guide and map, with more than 10,000 distributed to homes in the area.
