A YOUNG photographer’s work has gone on show at Tynemouth’s Blue Reef Aquarium.

Lewis Bond, of Ashington, was given the chance to stage his debut exhibition at the North Tyneside attraction after impressing staff with his camera work.

The 12-year-old’s show is made up of a dozen images of wildlife, including one of the aquarium’s newest arrival, an iguana.

Other pictures feature seals, octopus, clownfish, lionfish and starfish.

Lewis, a pupil at Bothal Middle School in Ashington, has been taking pictures since getting a camera as a Christmas present in 2010.

His mum Vivienne said: “Lewis enjoys taking photos because he likes to record things that he has seen and places he has visited.

“He particularly likes wildlife, and he would eventually like to be a photographer.”

Lewis is also a member of Ashington Co-op Camera Club.

Blue Reef’s Anna Pellegrino said: “We’re delighted to have been able to host Lewis’s first-ever photographic exhibition.

“Everyone here has been extremely impressed with Lewis’ pictures, and I’m sure this will only be the first of many exhibitions he is involved with.

“He’s clearly got real talent, and his enthusiasm for his subject is obvious.”
