Lifeboat crews rescue dog walker from cliffs

A DOG owner had to be rescued by lifeboat crews at the weekend.

The 29-year-man after he climbed down the cliffs between Hartley Bay and St Mary’s Island around 3pm on Saturday, August 27, in an attempt to rescue his dog that had fallen down the cliffs.

Cullercoats RNLI Inshore Lifeboat and Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade were called to the scene to take the man and his dog from the bottom of the cliff.

Once at the cliff top the man was issued with suitable safety advice and reunited with his dog.
