Two borough slimmers have been sharing their weight loss success at a national slimming competition.
Dave Hudson, 43, from Wallsend, and Lee Johnston, 39, of North Shields, were joined by Chris Coulter, from High Heaton, to talk about how they lost 37 stone between them.
They were among 36 entrants in the finals of Slimming World’s Man of the Year 2014 contest, where they met Sky Sports presenter Charlie Webster.
Dave, who attends a group in Howdon, lost 10st 9.5lbs since September 2013, going from 28st 5.5lbs to 17st 10lbs.
He said: “Before I joined Slimming World I didn’t think that eating healthily would ever be able to satisfy my big appetite without leaving me feeling hungry.
“I can still enjoy all my favourite meals, they’re just cooked differently now.”
Lee has lost 11st since joining his Slimming World group in North Shields, going from 25st 7.5lbs to 14st 7.5lbs.
He says: “I was pleased when I found out I’d made the finals, but I didn’t lose weight to win a competition.”
Charlie said: “I’m very lucky that my job means I get to meet lots of very inspiring sportsmen (and women) who have achieved amazing things in their field and I feel passionate about being fit and healthy myself too.
“What Chris, Dave and Lee have achieved is as inspiring as any sportsperson I’ve met and they should be so proud of the way in which they’ve transformed themselves – and their whole lives for that matter.”
