An Olympic star ensured no youngsters tumbled as they completed certificates in sports leadership.
Olympic and Commonwealth Games gymnast Craig Heap helped 120 young people complete Sports Leaders UK Day Certificates in sports leadership.
The North Tyneside Voluntary Organisations Development Agency (VODA) ran the course for the group as part of their summer National Citizen Service programme.
The 16 to 17-year-olds developed their communication, teamwork and leadership skills with the four full day sessions facilitated by Craig as part of his role as an ambassador with the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.
Emily Burns, regional project officer North East, Sports Leaders UK, said: “The support from Craig this year is amazing and I look forward to seeing more delivery of sports leadership within their programmes in the future.”
Robin Fry, volunteer centre manager for North Tyneside Voluntary Organisations Development Agency, said: “These sessions have been a fantastic addition to our National Citizen Service programme.”
“They have provided young people with a unique opportunity to develop a wide range of skills that will help them during the next stage of the programme where they will be planning and delivering their Social Action Projects to benefit the local community.”
