Armed forces veterans invited to ceremony
WAR veterans are being invited to a ceremony to mark this year’s Armed Forces Day.
The event – on Monday, June 25 – will include the presentation of lapel badges to armed forces veterans at North Tyneside Council’s Quadrant headquarters at Cobalt Business Park in North Shields.
It is part of a programme of events in the borough leading up to the fourth annual Armed Forces Day on Saturday, June 30.
A flag will be raised before the presentation of badges to ex-services personnel.
Any North Tynesiders who have served in the armed forces, including the volunteer and regular reserves, are entitled to apply for badges.
Those eligible – and not previously given badges – can contact the council, and it will forward their details to the Service Personnel and Veterans Agency.
For details, e-mail Malcolm.Henderson@northtyneside.gov.uk or call him on (0191) 643 7419. The deadline for applications is Friday, May 25.
If successful, they will be invited to the ceremony, which is being organised by the council with the support of North Tyneside War Veterans Committee.
