AN AUTHOR has been passing on his tips to young bookworms.

Marcus Sedgwick visited King’s School in Tynemouth to talk to more than 200 Year 7, 8 and 9 pupils about his books and life has a writer.

He is also writing the third instalment in a new series of 11 e-short stories celebrating the 50th anniversary of Dr Who.

Sedgwick said: “I was always a great fan of Dr Who and I couldn’t resist the offer to write something to capture the essence of his characterisation of the Doctor as a slightly daunting and indomitable schoolmaster.”

“King’s pupils were charming, polite people. They asked some great questions including what book by another author I would have most liked to have written. I’m still considering the answer.”
