A BODY has been recovered from a popular beach.

Police officers were called to King Edward’s Bay, in Tynemouth, at 6.22am today (Thursday) following concerns for the welfare of a man.

Officers and ambulance crews attended, where they found the body of Mahdi Narmishiri, 28, from the Tynemouth area.

Mr Narmishiri had last been seen by a neighbour on Friday, January 11.

A police spokesperson said: “Police received reports of concern for the welfare of a man at King Edward’s Bay.

“Police and ambulance attended and located the body of a man close to Castle Rock.

“A report will be prepared for the coroner.”
