A group of Brownies in North Tyneside are getting ready to hold a display of memorabilia as part of the organisation’s centenary celebrations.

Brownies were started in 1914, and to celebrate the 100th anniversary this year, North Tyneside County will be holding several events to celebrate the Big Brownie Birthday.

Ann Elliott, from the group, said: “As part of the events we hope to be able to display Brownie memorabilia from as far back as possible, with old uniforms, photographs, books, information on past local Brownie events and outings.

“We would be interested to hear from anyone who has any of the above to lend us or donate.”

The group has found a wedding photo taken at St George’s Church in Tynemouth around 1962, with a Brownie guard of honour, and are now looking for anyone who recognises the bride or groom to get in touch,

Anyone who thinks they know the couple can call Ann Elliott on (0191) 252 2698 or email elliottann@blueyonder.co.uk
