Rescue teams were called out in the early hours of Tuesday morning after a car slipped off the access ramp at Cullercoats Bay.
Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade (TVLB)were called at 2.50am after the car owner also revealed his boat and trailer were stuck below the water line and would need recovering.
Brigade members were able to recover the boat and trailer from the sea.
But when they tried to rescue the car, they found only two wheels were still on the ramp while the right front tyre was perched on a step and the right rear tyre was on the sand.
TVLB captain Peter Lilley said: “The owner said it had ended up in this position after he had misjudged the distances involved in reversing down the ramp.”
The TVLB were unable to safely recover and tow the vehicle back onto the ramp so advised the owner to contact a specialist recovery company.
