Peter Dade, superintendent of the Fishermens Mission North Shields, raises the collecting bucket together with Poundlands Hayley Keddy, and Chris Wilson, centre manager at the Beacon Shopping Centre.

More than £1,000 was raised for the North Shields Fishermen’s Mission by shoppers at the Beacon Shopping Centre who visited Santa before Christmas.

Peter Dade, superintendent of The Mission, said: “We raised the tremendous sum of £1,150 from the entry fee as well as from generous donations from shoppers.

“This will enable the on-going, vital support to fishermen and their families in the north east, both active and retired.”

Chris Wilson, manager at the Beacon shopping Centre, said: “The Fishermen’s Mission is the Beacon’s nominated charity at present, and they did an excellent job in raising funds whilst providing a great Christmas service to our shoppers.

“We are pleased they raised so much, and look forward to working with them over the next year to raise even more.”
