Chance to go that extra mile for local charity

FUN runners are being invited to go that extra mile for charity.

With thousands of people hoping to secure a place in the Bupa Great North Run, the Percy Hedley Foundation has secured 320 places for runners fundraising on their behalf.

The disability charity is now urging people to join more than 56,000 fun runners to elite athletes on the 13.1-mile course from Newcastle to South Shields on Sunday, September 15, to help youngsters in the area, including at their Forest Hall school.

Julie Calvert, from Percy Hedley, said: “The Great North Run is a major fundraising event for us and we are eternally grateful to supporters who take on such a huge personal challenge to raise money for us.

“We do our best to show our appreciation by giving them a big Percy Hedley welcome when they get back to our tent in the charity village because after running 13.1 miles they all deserve the very best.”
