Chance to have say on plans for future

VIEWS are being sought on development plans for the borough.

A six-week consultation period on North Tyneside Council’s development blueprints for Wallsend, North Shields and the coast is now under way.

Anyone interested can view the plans at www.northtyneside.gov.uk and leave their comments.

Drop-in sessions are being held throughout the borough so residents can get more information and ask questions.

Borough mayor Linda Arkley, pictured, said: “These area action plans form a vital part of our ongoing drive to deliver sustainable growth in North Tyneside – through the regeneration of our town centres, development of sites for housing and employment and improvement of our wonderful coastline.

“This consultation will provide an important opportunity for residents and businesses with a vested interest in the future of North Tyneside, to give their views.”

The drop-in sessions will be held on:

n Saturday, March 3, from 10am to 12.30pm at the Beacon Shopping Centre inn North Shields, the Forum Shopping Centre in Wallsend and Park View Shopping Centre in Whitley Bay;

n Monday, March 5, from 11am to 2pm at Park View Shopping Centre again;

n Tuesday, March 6, from 11am to 2pm at the Forum again, and from 5pm to 7pm at Whitley Bay Library;

n Wednesday, March 7, from 11am to 2pm back at the Beacon Shopping Centre, and at 5.30pm at Burnside High School in Wallsend;

n Thursday, March 8, from 5pm to 7pm at North Shields Library;

n Tuesday, March 13, at 5.30pm, Whitley Bay Area Forum’s next meeting, at the Shiremoor Centre;

n Wednesday, March 14, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at St Paul’s Community Centre, Willington Quay;

n Thursday, March 15 , from 5pm to 7pm at Tynemouth Library;

n Tuesday, March 20, at 5.30pm at the White Swan Centre in Killingworth;

n Thursday, March 22, at 5.30pm at the North Shields area forum’s next meeting.

Consultation on the plans ends on Monday, March 26.
