Whitley Bay slimmers are appealing for support for their charity event.
A ‘Slimming World Does Race for Life’ walk and rounders match is taking place to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.
And volunteers are being sought to take part in the event at Foxhunters Sporting Pavilion on Saturday, July 26, at 11am.
The members of the Foxhunters Slimming World group is welcoming anyone in Whitley Bay to join in, whether it’s taking part or spectating, and help them to raise as much money as possible for the charity.
The aim is to raise money for charity while raising awareness about the benefits of getting active, including increasing energy levels, reducing stress, building self-esteem, improving health and helping to maintain a healthy weight.
Joan Orr, who runs the Foxhunters Slimming World group, said: “We’d love anyone in Whitley Bay to join us whether they’re young, old, male or female and whatever their current fitness level.
“Anyone who wants to take part can run, walk or even dance the distance or join in the game of rounders.
“Every penny raised will go towards an amazing cause, helping Cancer Research UK to fund pioneering, life-saving research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of all cancers.
“Cancer touches so many people’s lives and at Slimming World we’re determined to do anything we can to help people lead healthier lives in whatever way possible, that’s why I’m so pleased that my group is getting behind this event and encouraging others to do the same.”
Linda Scorfield, a member who has lost 4 stone 7lbs since January, said: “I’m walking around the football pictures in memory of my best friend.
“It’s a cause close to my heart and I’m sure it will be a very touching event.”
