Charity show raises £800 for Will’s fund

A fundraising concert organised by a borough teenager in memory of a young Whitley Bay boy has raised more than £800.

Five-year-old Will Woods died suddenly on June 3, just a short while after being diagnosed with a rare condition called childhood Burkitt’s lymphoma.

Teenager Harriotte Lane, who is the current Miss Junior Teen Newcastle, decided to organise a concert to raise funds for the Good Will Cause, which has been set up to raise awareness of childhood lymphomas.

The show, held at The Linkskill Centre in North Shields, featured R&B singer Kema Kay and Durham-based band North Road.

Thirteen-year-old Harriotte is set to star in a film, The Unwanted, to be shot by youth film company Act2Cam, which is run my Will’s parents.

Harriotte said: “Having heard the sad news about Will, I planned a fundraiser to help raise money for the cause.

“It was such a great night.

“I feel very blessed for all the support I have been given to put this night on.”

The Good Will Cause has so far raised more than £10,000.
