Charity starts new year with £12,000 toy boost

A CHILDREN’S charity has had a boost in donations.

Barnardo’s shops in Shiremoor, Wallsend, Whitley Bay and Blyth have had £12,260 worth of toys donated in more than 1,200 bags.

The increase was thanks to Argos, which teamed up with the charity in a six-week toy exchange programme.

Barnardo’s north east area retail business manager Tracey Brooks said: “We are delighted that the Argos toy exchange has proved such a success.

“This was a substantial boost to our stock in the run up to Christmas and the new year. Donations are essential in order to keep our stores trading.”
