Chef passes on tips to the next generation
British chef Michael Quinn MBE with catering pupils at TyneMet College.
A MICHELIN starred chef has warned the latest generation of would-be cooks about the dangers of the kitchen.
Michael Quinn, who gained his first star in 1980 and was the first British chef for more than 75 years at the Ritz Hotel in London, spoke with students at TyneMet College about alcohol and drug dependency.
He established the ARK Foundation in 2007 to warn about the dangers of alcohol and drug misuse after succumbing to the stress of running a successful kitchen in the 1980s.
Michael became dependent on alcohol and drugs in the 1980s, ending up sleeping rough under bridges, turning his life around in 2001.
