Cleaning firm offers hope to unemployed
A SMALL North Shields cleaning firm are offering hope to those out of work by expanding against the odds to create tens of new jobs.
Business partners David Pickering and Paul Hollyer and Paul's wife Mel, started Mel's Cleaning two years ago, with a small base in North Shields.
They now have 20 staff and always advertise in Job Centres as they especially like to take on those who are unemployed.
Despite the recession, they now have a base in Hexham and Blyth and will be opening shortly in Morpeth with the creation of ten jobs in time for Christmas.
David said: "We started from nothing in a recession, it just shows that in these difficult times you can still get there if you are determined enough."
Additionally, the trio are hoping to offer 22 franchises which could potentially mean between six and eight jobs for each.
