A small specialist engineering company based in North Shields has won a coveted manufacturing business award.

Motech Engineering in North Balkwell Farm Industrial Estate was named Best Manufacturing Business at the North Tyneside Business Awards 2013.

Formed in 2008 by father and son Richard and Mark Oakley together with best friend Laurence Jacobs, Motech Engineering has secured contracts within the automotive industry, building sector and civil engineering, and exported to the European market.

Production manager Mark Oakley said: “We are absolutely delighted to win this North Tyneside manufacturing business award, which is a fantastic testament to the hard work and dedication of the team in shaping how we have developed as a company.

“We aim to use the award win as the catalyst for the next stage in our business, continuing to improve the company, services and products.

“We plan to continue growth by expanding our premises and acquiring additional machinery which will enable us to create jobs and opportunities for local people.”
