Concerns for fisherman

RESCUERS were called out after concerns for a fisherman spotted unconscious in a fishing boat in Seaton Sluice harbour.

A member of Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade was called to the scene just after 2.25pm on Wednesday, January 2, following a request for help from the North East Ambulance Service.

As the crew member and paramedic approached the boat, which was surrounded by mud as the tide was out, they found the man was not unconscious but asleep.

He told them that he had been working overnight on his boat and decided to sleep on board.

All units stood down and returned to their stations.
