Consultation on service nears an end

CONSULTATION on the future of a health service in Shiremoor is nearing an end.

Residents are invited to get their views in on the future of the adult walk-in services at Shiremoor Health Resource Centre.

Information has revealed the majority of adult patients using the centre had health conditions which do not require hospital treatment and could be treated by their GP.

North Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is looking to stop the service, with the nurses joining another team at the centre.

Dr John Matthews, clinical chair of the CCG, said the aim of the service is to prevent hospital admissions by providing more support for people at home and for those waiting to be discharged from hospital.

“We hope as many people as possible will take the time to fill in the questionnaire and give their views,” he said.

The consultation – which has included two public meetings – is due to end on Wednesday, March 13.

Residents can complete a confidential questionnaire online at www.northtynesideccg.nhs.uk or www.northoftyne.nhs.uk

A paper version is available by e-mailing contactus@northoftyne.nhs.uk or telephone (0191) 217 2599.
