Dedication of Christmas tree

A SPECIAL Christmas tree celebration will take place next month to raise money for charity.

The tree, donated by Whitley Bay-based charity Angels of the North will be dedicated and blessed by Captain Janice Snell of the Salvation Army and the ceremony will mark the charity’s annual

Lights To Remember celebration, where each light on the tree will be dedicated in memory of someone with the proceeds going to local cancer care charities.

The service on Monday, December 10, on the village green in Monkseaton at 7pm, will include readings and reflections and The Salvation Army band will play carols and seasonal music.

Afterwards, mince pies will be served in The Black Horse.

Anyone wishing to dedicate a light can do so by sending a cheque for £5 (made payable to Angels of the North) to Angels of the North, 75 Marine Avenue, Whitley Bay, NE26 1NB, with a note of the full name of the person to be remembered.
