Dog rescued from sea after chasing seagull

A CURIOUS dog in pursuit of a seagull had to be rescued from the sea at Tynemouth last week.

Henry, a two-year-old chocolate Labrador, swam into the sea to chase the bird, but ventured too far offshore.

A surfer paddled out to try and coax the dog back to dry land and away from its prey, but after he was unsuccessful, the Cullercoats lifeboat had to be called out.

The boat reached the dog within minutes, and carried it safely back to shore.

The dog was unhurt, but received a stern telling-off from it's grateful owner who thanked the rescuers.
