Crowds flocked to an event celebrating the sea and the work of fishermen and an organisation.
Despite a wet start, the sun came out and attendees flocked to North Shields Fish Quay for the Mission Aid event organised by the North Shields Fishermen’s Mission.
Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell opened the event. Music was provided by Holly’s School of Steel, Marske Fishermen’s Choir, the Moonstones Band and Leanne Morse.
There were also displays from Heaton and District Model Power Boat Club, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade and Tynemouth Lifeboat.
A total of £1,961 was raised for the Fishermen’s Mission, which helps active and retired fishermen and their families.
The mission is holding a Mission Aid Open Day on August 2, from noon to 4pm at 47-49 Fish Quay, North Shields, to highlight their work.
