Firm appointed to university’s framework

A WALLSEND company has been appointed to a local university’s minor works framework.

The University of Sunderland has appointed Turney Wylde to the framework, which makes the firm one of only four able to bid for projects worth up to £1.5m at the university.

Project manager at the university Martin Shaw said: “Although there are some excellent contractors in the region, many of whom pitched for the work, we were looking for the successful parties to match very specific criteria.

“It was Turney Wylde’s proactive approach that set them apart, along with the fact they had relevant experience having worked with both Durham and Newcastle Universities in the past.”

The framework will stay in place for a maximum of four years and every time a project under the value of £1.5m becomes available, Turney Wylde will be invited to pitch for the work against the other successful parties.

Ian Cuthbertson, contracts director at Turney Wylde, added: “Being appointed to the framework is an important development for us as it builds on our experience within the education sector and shows our commitment to delivering best value from our work.

“We understand that The University of Sunderland’s focus is to improve the student experience and where the opportunity comes along, we will do everything we can to help them achieve that goal.”
