The first resident has moved into a housing development in North Shields.

Dere Street Homes has welcomed Mary Smith into their new homes development at Stanton Court.

Mrs Smith moved a few miles from her former property in North Shields to be closer to her daughter and family.

She said: “My daughter, Fiona, had let me know about Stanton Court as soon as the developers had received planning permission and I’d actually bought it off plan.

“Now I’ve moved in, it’s just a beautiful home with a bigger kitchen and bathroom than I’d expected, but still very easy to maintain.”

Stanton Court features 14 two-bedroom courtyard and semi-detached bungalows in a peaceful and secure setting for couples who wish to downsize.

Louise Kenny, Dere Street Homes’ IT and sales office manager, presented Mary with a welcome bouquet of flowers, adding: “We’re delighted to have Mary as our first resident on the development and, with four homes already sold and another reserved, she’ll soon be joined by her new neighbours.”
