Five borough parks are among the best in the country.

For the first time Wallsend Parks – which encompasses Richardson Dees Park, Prince Road Arboretum and Wallsend Hall grounds – has been awarded a prestigious Green Flag award.

Also retaining their Green Flags – administered by Keep Britain Tidy – are Marden Quarry, Killingworth Lakeside Park, Benton Quarry Park and the Rising Sun Country Park.
